Getaway Clip + Tour time!

Well I promised this here would be the space where I put out all the real stuff! all the details that don’t quite fit on the public socials. And you have all been patiently awaiting a new blog post since the ‘Kilometres’ video launch way back in February!

Well we decided to launch our video right smack bang in the worst possible time for any independent band to launch something if they live in Adelaide - In ‘Mad March’ ie the middle of Fringe, WOMAD, Adelaide festival season!!! yay.

In spite of this we still managed to sell all our tickets to our event at Palace Nova Cinemas in Prospect, and it was actually a really rad night that we are still very proud of. It was something of an experiment for us to play around a single condensor microphone in the bluegrass style and just get a vibe happening. It was also amazing to screen the video hand made by the supremely talented and patient Tim Bennett. If you haven’t yet seen the clip I strongly urge you to open up a new tab and do it right now!!! But I tell ya, it was something else to see it on the big screen.
Watch this space, it was so cool I reckon we might even do it again sometime.

So, as life tends to do, just when things we’re all going quite swimmingly for the Flannelettes, the universe threw out a rather large, rather horrible curve ball… My partner’s mum Georgina Heath was the victim of a fatal car accident involving a speeding drink driver on March 18th - She had been in attendance at our launch event only 4 days earlier. I had chatted to her as I got home from a gig on the night she last went out. The Flannelettes were all booked to have a band photo shoot on the day of the accident, but in a single one moment the priorities shifted and the promotion campaign of the Flannelettes went off the list of immediate priorities for me. I decided to put all public facing band activities (mainly socials posting) on the back burner until I was ready to start up again.

To all those who have sent their love and support I am grateful beyond words. a wise man once said “
It’s times like these you learn to live again” hey.

It has now been more than two months - We have been planning our launch tour since last year and of course putting out our debut record has been a goal for years now, it is time for us to get this show back on the road and in full swing. I will be wracking my brains to feed the social media algorithms just the right amount of my soul each week, so that we may reach our potential fans.

As anyone anywhere near the music industry already understands, these are dire times to be a musical group peddling original music as an artform. You would have to be somewhat mentally disturbed to choose to do what we do. Every possible thing is working against you, every career goal or piece of shiny new content is prohibitively expensive, and everything you need to achieve to reach that next level as a band lives behind a lottery ticketed pay-wall. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to do what we do, to play the shows we have played so far and to be able to make a record. We are grateful, but we still need support and champions! perhaps even heroes?

If we have any hope of continuing to do this into the future it is really important that people come out to our shows and buy our new record, so probably most importantly, we humbly ask that you tell someone in your life about us if you think they’d enjoy our music.

We will be on tour in Victoria in late June-early July and we’ll be launching our record at the beautiful Trinity sessions in Adelaide on July 9th.
If you’re keen to come along please to any of our shows please consider getting your tickets early.

If you have goals chase them, tell the people in your life how much you love them, life is precious and impermanent.
We hope to see you at a gig soon.

Max Love -

Mark
