Kilometres is go!

Friends, well-wishers, curious onlookers, enemies, frienemies! We are so proud to be able to put a little more music into an over-saturated, content filled, weary world.

Our single ‘Kilometres’ has been bopping around the flannelettes HQ for quite some time. We have been tweaking and tinkering to get the recording just right before letting it out into the world. The song went live on digital streaming platforms this morning yay! and we couldn’t be happier.

If you haven’t heard the song you can click on one of the little icons at the top of this here website. You’ll be listening to the end result of lots of love and obsession, thousands of mix related micro-decisions, two complete rerecordings. A successful Honours attempt and a failed masters one.
You’ll hear one complete vocal take!… Attempted and rerecorded lots of times! Well that’s the funny thing about this song and the other songs from our upcoming debut album, We kind of aimed for a natural, light touch production thing which meant that most of the takes that made it to the final mix were whole takes un-fixed. like unpolished gems. We were searching for just the right amount of spontaneity. We wanted it to be well captured without sounding too safe. It’s a delicate art overcooking something until it seems like it didn’t take too much effort.

Maybe we got there? maybe we didn’t? I’m way too close to tell anymore. But I’m damn proud of this little tune and I really hope you get something out of listening to it. Hell, if it gets to be the background soundtrack to a moment in your life while you focus on something else, I’ll take that too.
